    Revised regulation for asset management products may be delayed

    The People's Bank of China, the central bank, had earlier scheduled the implementation of the New Asset Management Regulation from next year. However, financial experts have stressed the need for a longer transitional period of another one or two years, as the new rule may crimp financial conditions and disrupt the market in the aftermath of the novel coronavirus epidemic.

    ESMA Publishes the MIFID/MIFIR Annual Review Report

    ESMA, 23 Jul 2020

    The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU’s securities markets regulator, has published today the MiFID/MiFIR Annual Review Report under Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/583 (RTS 2). This report lays down the thresholds for the liquidity criterion 'average daily number of trades' for bonds, as well as the trade percentiles.

    CFTC Approves Final Cross-Border Swaps Rule and an Exempt SEF Amendment Order at July 23 Open Meeting

    CFTC, 23 Jul 2020

    The Commission approved a final rule on capital requirements for swap dealers and major swap participants, closing out all required rulemakings under Section 731 of the Act. [See CFTC Press Release No. 8210-20] The Commission today also approved an Amendment Order regarding European Union trading facilities.
