Licensing For PE Firms in Hong Kong
On 7th January 2020 the SFC released 2 important circulars concerning licensing of private equity fund managers and advisers and family offices in Hong Kong. These circulars clarify the situations in which PE firms and family offices require licensing. This has been an area of much discussion in Hong Kong in the last 6 months and it is important that a clear regulatory position now exists. For PE firms that are not yet licensed there is an opportunity to move quickly to get licence applications into the SFC before any adverse consequences may be experienced.
