The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) has issued the “Guide to Sound Practices for Asian Hedge Funds” which serves as a benchmark for the minimum s tandards that a hedge fund should implement. Faced with these sorts of industry developments and the prospect of increased regulatory scrutiny, many Asian hedge funds are moving towards favouring a form of self regulation .

ComplianceAsia will assist hedge funds to:-

• Develop compliance and anti-money laundering programmes designed specifically for hedge funds taking into account the trading strategy, staff levels and the governing on-and-offshore regulatory regimes

• Prepare compliance, trading and investment policies and procedures manuals specifically for hedge funds taking into account the complexities of dealing with multiple funds, strategies and accounts

• Conduct initial and regular on-going compliance reviews of the manager’s operations to determine the level of compliance with local requirements; identify areas of non-compliance; assess record keeping procedures; assess the effectiveness of know your client and anti-money laundering procedures; and issue a compliance assessment report

• Act as compliance provider to funds handling all regulatory filings, notifications, returns and other ongoing compliance and regulatory obligations. We already provide this service to a number of funds in Hong Kong and Singapore.

• Assist with ISDA and counterparty negotiations and documentation.
